Great Contest. Had a blast. Lots more there than I got pictures of & of course I had to toss a bunch due to shakey camera.
Lots of good models, lots of great work; judging was not at all easy -- although it helped that aircraft entries seemed to be lower than usual.
By my count, folks from four NC chapters crossed the border to support our salient into R2.
Worth the trip, even if gas prices had just tanked (sorry for the pun) ...
Best Aircraft -- the worn winter camo was amongst best I've seen & model was flawless.
I know the Seiran, Eindecker, T-33, and Whirlwind were category winners.
Good armor representation; except my entry which lacked a couple days to get it finished ...
A miscellany of other models ....
One of my favorites !!!
This is Jamestown, interpreted by a young lady, complete with her school paper, which I did read.
As a resident of the Outer Banks I did, of course, point out we celebrated our 400th anniversary 20 years ago.
These are paper !!!
More Juniors -- I lost a bunch of pix from here, so it isn't at all representative of the number of entries.
I particularly liked the Pine Box Derby category -- maybe a good way to draw in more Juniors !!
Space - The Final Frontier !!!
I thought Joe Gray entered this !!! (ECPM insider humor.)
There were lots and lots of autos, here's just a few.
The "black" car with "blue" flames isn't really -- it's a lighting/camera artifact. The model was I think a very dark purple/black and the flames a deep purple that virtually faded into the body color depending on the viewing angle. My photos destroy the whole effect - of course not nearly as badly as if I had tried to paint it that way.
